It’s never all that fun to notice things in our homes that don’t seem to have an obvious explanation.
I don’t know about you, but whenever I stumble upon a mark on the wall that wasn’t there before, or detect the faintest hint of a strange smell, I immediately wonder if it’s going to be something that gets worse and, ultimately, if it’s going to cost me money to fix in the long run.
Which is why I can sympathize with one internet user who reportedly grew concerned after finding that black dots were inexplicably appearing in her kitchen.
Now, it should go without saying that strange marks or unexplainable discoveries in the kitchen of all places, can often cause alarm.
After all, this is where food is prepped, and usually the one area of your house where you want to have full control of everything and anything that’s going down.

One homeowner, however, was at a loss as to the explanation behind a series of strange black dots she kept finding.
“Does anyone have any idea what these points might be?” she asked in the Facebook group ‘WeLoveMrsHinch”.
“They first appeared on the kitchen tiles, then on top of the PC we keep in the kitchen this morning.”
Thankfully there were other Facebook users who were able to give her a definitive reply, though the answers likely weren’t ones she was hoping to receive.

“Look over it and you will probably find spider,” someone wrote in her post’s comments.
“It happens a lot this time of year, spiders pooing everywhere,” another wrote.
According to the Pest Guidance website, spiders “don’t leave solid droppings; instead, their droppings are thick and liquid” and resemble dark ink stains, often appearing on walls and surfaces.
“Their faeces look like splats or drips in the shades of black, brown, white or grey,” the website reads.
“The colour or type of faeces depends on the species, but in most of the cases, you can expect dark splats or drips.
“These droppings are the combination of food and the other waste materials that are released from the spider’s body.”
I certainly didn’t know anything about spider droppings, did you? Let us know in the comments.
It's never pleasant to stumble upon unexplained things in your home, especially when they seem to have no clear cause. One such mystery happened to an internet user who discovered strange black dots appearing around her kitchen.
Naturally, any oddities in the kitchen—where cleanliness is crucial—can spark concern. After all, it’s where food is prepped and stored, so keeping it in perfect condition is a top priority.

The homeowner took to a popular Facebook group, WeLoveMrsHinch, seeking advice from fellow users. She shared her bafflement:
“Does anyone have any idea what these black dots might be?” she asked. “They first appeared on the kitchen tiles, then on top of the PC we keep in the kitchen this morning.”
Responses came flooding in, though the answers may not have been what she was hoping for. Several users suggested the same explanation: spider droppings.

One commenter wrote, “Look closely around your kitchen, and you might spot a spider nearby.” Another agreed, adding, “This time of year, spiders are quite active, and their droppings can be found everywhere.”
According to the website Pest Guidance, spider droppings are “thick and liquid-like,” resembling dark ink splatters or drips on walls and surfaces. These markings can be black, brown, white, or grey, depending on the spider species. The droppings consist of food waste and other materials excreted from their bodies.
While spider droppings might be an unpleasant discovery, they’re not dangerous. However, if you're finding them regularly, you might have more than a few spiders hiding around your home.
So, there you have it—those mysterious black dots in the kitchen may be something as harmless (but still unsettling) as spider poo.
